目的：急速に増大した結膜扁平上皮癌の症例の報告。症例と経過：84歳女性に右眼の充血を契機として結膜腫瘤が発見された。腫瘤は急速に増大し，3か月後に紹介され受診した。右眼角膜の耳側結膜に長径が15mmのカリフラワー様の血管に豊む腫瘤があった。角膜への浸潤はなく，眼球または眼窩内への浸潤は否定された。切除された腫瘤は病理組織学的に扁平上皮癌であった。術後に放射線照射を行い，以後6か月間に再発はない。結論：本症例のように3か月の短期間に増大した結膜扁平上皮癌は報告されていない。本疾患は遠隔転移が少なく，予後は概して良好であるが，単純切除後の2年以内の再発率が高いので，なお観察が必要である。

Purpose：To report a case of squamous cell carcinoma of bulbar conjunctiva with rapid enlargement. Case and Findings：A 84-year-old woman developed hyperemia leading to the diagnosis of conjunctival tumor in her right eye. She was referred to us 3 months later. The tumor was located temporal to the cornea,was 15 mm across,and appeared like a cauliflower with rich vascularization. There was no infiltration into the cornea. Invasion into the eyeglobe or orbit was ruled out. The excised tumor proved to be squamous cell carcinoma histopathologically. The affected eye received radiation with no recurrence during the ensuing 6 months. Conclusion：There has been no report of rapidly enlarged squamous cell carcinoma of conjunctiva as in the present case. Further observation is necessary because of high rate of recurrence within 2 years after plain excision.
