  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

Experiments were made on white rats, each weighing about 100g. Histamine hydrochloride which was dissolved in physiological saline at a concentration of 5% was injected to the jugular vein. The animals died rapidly at a dose of 0.5mg/g (lethal group) and presented transitory acute signs at 0.3mg/g (acute experimental group). In these groups and in the coutrol group alc. phosphatase, acid phosphatase, and PAS staine were performed. Though dilatation of blood vessels were observed in the treated groups, Nissl stain revealed no change. In the lethal group acid P. was increased around the third ventricle. In the acute experimental group increase of acid P. was observed in each region from after 15 minutes to after 1 hour and a half, and that of alc. P. from after 1 hour and a half to after 3 hours. Almost no canges was observed as to PAS positive substances. From these data the following conclusion were drawn: 1. The increase of acid P. was supposed to be due to metabolic disturbance evoked by the drug itself or by secondary circulation disturbance.

2. The increase of alc. P. meant abnormal permeability of the cerebral blood vessels.
