We analyzed the treatment outcomes of 13 patients who received carbon-ion radiotherapy for local recurrence following surgery for non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC)at SAGA HIMAT. The aim was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of this treatment. The 2-year and 5-year local control rates were both 92%. The 2-year and 5-year progression-free survival(PFS)rates were 92% and 74%, respectively, while the overall survival(OS)rates were 100% and 73%. No Grade 3 or higher adverse events were observed. Carbon-ion radiotherapy demonstrated favorable long-term treatment outcomes with minimal adverse events for postoperative local recurrence of NSCLC. Thus, it is considered an effective and safe salvage treatment option for this condition.
