2018年7月現在，肺癌に対する粒子線治療は，日本放射線腫瘍学会が定めた病態を対象に，定められた線量分割法で治療を実施する場合に先進医療Aとして実施できる。また，特に観察・評価が必要な病態については先進医療Bとして厳格な臨床試験として実施することとされている。

We have conducted a systematic review about particle therapy for lung cancer. In both early stage and locally advanced non-small cell lung cancer, there are several reports as to radiotherapy plans and clinical outcomes. Several clinical results of particle therapy are promising, but are luck of comparison to photon therapy. Prospective clinical trial and registration program are ongoing. It will be expected to clarify whether particle therapy for lung cancer is more useful than photon therapy or to identify patients who are beneficial the most by particle therapy.
