Purpose: This study aimed to explore the current state of the home-based exercise therapy and factors influencing its execution in patients with rheumatoid arthritis.

Methods: An anonymous self-administrated questionnaire survey was conducted with patients with rheumatoid arthritis in one prefecture. Binomial logistic regression analysis was performed to explore the factors associated with the execution of home-based exercise therapy.

Results: A total of 226 questionnaires were analyzed. Ninety-four patients (41.6%) used to execute home-based exercise therapy. Factors associated with the execution of home-based exercise therapy were higher age (Odds Ratio (OR): 1.042, 95% Confidence Interval (CI) : 1.001-1.085), discretionary worker (OR: 2.662, 95%CI: 1.074-6.596), injection therapy (OR: 2.005, 95%CI: 1.015-3.962) and physicians' recommendations (OR: 5.548, 95%CI: 2.094-14.695).

Conclusion: It may be required that health professionals recommend home-based exercise therapy to patients with rheumatoid arthritis in light of these results.
