We studied the characteristics of orienting response among cerebral vascular disorder (CVD group) patients with attentional disorder, by examining the speed (choice reaction time) and accuracy (correct answer rate and hit rate) of responses to three types of sensory stimuli. Participants were divided into a CVD group and a healthy group (control group), each consisting of 11 subjects. We performed tests by presenting random auditory stimuli, visual stimuli, and simultaneous visual and auditory stimuli from either right or left, and had participants identify the source of the sensory stimuli. The results showed that responses to sensory stimuli of the CVD group were slower than those of the comparison group, and this was particularly pronounced for auditory stimuli. Furthermore, the CVD group had a tendency to misidentify the source of single auditory or visual stimuli, compared to simultaneous visual and auditory stimuli. We believe that the primary cause of this was the influence of attentional disorder and other motor dysfunctions.
