The advantage of laparoscopic surgery is that it is less invasive compared with the traditional approach. However, in the case of ovarian tumors, we must consider the possibility of malignancy even for cases which are clinically benign in appearance. Therefore, it is important to utilize a laparotomy technique to prevent perfora-tion and dispersion of the tumor tissue at the time of removal. The selection criteria of cases to undergo is most important. Furthermore, individualized management is also required for various casesdepending on the charac-teristics of the tumor content, the degree of adhesion, and other complications.
