成人の咽後膿瘍の1例

A Case of Primary Retropharyngeal Abscess in Adult

　I．はじめに

　咽後膿瘍は原発性と続発性とがあり，原発性は乳幼児に，続発性は成人に多いとされているが，抗生物質療法が発達した今日ではほとんど経験することもなく，稀有な疾患の一つとなった。最近我々は，原発性と考えられる成人の咽後膿瘍の治験例を得たので，文献的考察を加えて報告する。

　A 42-year-old male patient complained of sore throat and swelling of the neck. X-ray examination of the neck schowed a massive soft tissue swelling on the lateral view. After tracheostomy, under general intubation anesthesia, lateral pharyngotomy was performed for drainage of the abscess. Clinical findings were markedly improved within two days after surgical treatment. Streptococcus viridans was isolated from pus which was surgically obtained.
