喉頭と甲状腺の重複癌について

Multiple Cancers involving the Larynx and Thyroid Gland

　I．緒言

　平均寿命の延びと癌治癒率の向上に伴って重複癌は増加してきており，臨床上問題となる機会がしばしばある。とくに喉頭癌は他癌に比べて予後が良好であり，経過観察において重複癌の発生には注意を要する。今回喉頭と隣接する甲状腺について，その重複癌症例について検討した。

　Out of 1,406 patients with laryngeal cancer, 139 patients (9.9%) were diagnosed as having other primary malignant neoplasms. Nine (7 maleand 2 female) of 139 patients (6.5%) were diagnosed as having thyroid cancer (0.6% of the patients with laryngeal cancer).

　Four thyroid cancers were discovered incidentally during total laryngectomy. Careful examination for detection of thyroid cancer is necessary at the time of operation. In 3 patients cancer was considered to be radiation-induced, and two of them were irradiated for lymphadenitis tuberculosa 28, 32 years before respectively, and the remaining one was irradiated for thyroid cancer 25 years before.
