嗅覚テストと嗅（覚能）力の量的表現

EXPRESSION OF OLFACTION BY QUANTITATIVE VALUES

　ヒトの嗅覚能力を量的に表現できれば視力と同様に多くの面で有益と考えられる。われわれは一つの試みとして次の方法で100名余りの人々にテストを行なつたのでその結果を発表しご批判を仰ぐこととした。

　In order to establish a quantitative value of olfactory acuity in man ten substances including those advocated by Amoore were selected for the test. Each one of these substances were diluted to the multiples of 10. The threshold of the sense of smell was tested in 113 subjects.

　The result of this study was compared to that of the similar study with different ten substances selected by a cosmetic specialist. The two results closely coincided with one another.
