Reaction times, in which subjects were re-quested to response to sensory stimulation by switching or phonation, were examined in order to obtain some elemental data for its clinical application to central deafness.
Results were as follows
1. Reaction times to tone bursts varied approximately from 200 to 300 msec owing to various stimulus conditions.
2. When stimuli were given at successive intervals, the reaction time of the initial trial showed larger measurement and the following reaction times became relatively stable.
3. Reaction times to light flashes and cli-cks were smaller than that of tone bursts by_ 40-50 msec.
4. At the intensity of the pure tone beloW 15 dB, reaction times became remarkably ger than above 15 dB and there appeared so-me differencies among frequencies used below. 15 dB.
5. When compared the reaction time of switching between right and left hand, it sho-weded smaller mean value with larger stan-dard deviation in the left hand.
6. The effect of exercise of switching or phonation on reaction time could be found especially in the aged.
