　半規管神経の電気刺激を利用した前庭生理実験は決して新しいものではない。しかし，刺激としての電気パルスを自在に操り，また記録法をそれに応じていろいろ工夫できるようになつたのは，比較的近年のことである。今日までの前庭生理の研究は主に魚類，両棲類，兎などについて種々おこなわれてきた。本稿においては，より高等な動物についての基礎的研究が，臨床に直結した知識を供給する点で，とくに重要であることを示したいと思う。

The results of vestibular reflexes elicited in experimental animals such as monkey, cat, dog and rabbit by direct stimulation of single semicircular canal nerves are reported. The stimulation was applied by means of implanted bipolar micro-electrodes closely adjacent to the semicircular canal nerve through which rectan-gular wave electric current (0.5m sec.) or pulse-train of about 50m sec. was repeatedly passed. Ocular movements thereby elicited were ob-served by means of stroboscopic photography and muscular responses were noted by elect-romyography and electronystagmography.
