粘膜下下鼻介切除術の遠隔成績

　まえがき

　鼻腔は気道の起始部であり，機能的に見て吸気の加温，加湿，除塵作用等による呼吸器全般の保護作用，嗅覚機能及び共鳴並びに構音作用を有する外，呼吸道として重要な役割を演ずる。

　鼻腔粘膜は豊富な血管網をもち，上皮内及び上皮下の腺から分泌された粘液膜で覆われ，外界からの色々の刺激に対処しているが，一度その平衡を失うと病的変化をひき起す。更にこの場合種々な原因で鼻腔が狭窄すると一層その変化を促進しやがて不可逆的なものとなる。之等は互に悪循環をくり返す。

The results of submucous resection of the inferior turnate a procedure that had been adopted by Otolaryngological Department of Chiba University Medical School for the past 8 years are reviewed and reported. Sympto-ms such as nasal obstructions, headaches and tendency to were relieved in 80% of cases ; persistent rhinorrhea and loss of smell in 65 %. A marked improvement was seen in 50% of cases who suffered symptoms of chronic sinusitis. Following this operation the nasal passage would be cleared of any obstruction affording an ample space not only in the passage proper but also in that of the middle meatus as well as that of the olfactory cleft. The author believes that this operation is highly commendable in that it might be included as an auxiliary procedure in the reconstructive surgery aiming towards est-ablishment of free nasal passage.
