北村教授開講10周年記念論文—上顎癌の分類

　まえがき

　上顎癌の分類の試みのためにはその立場を明らかにすることが先決である。その立場によつて分類法が異つてくるし，全ての立場を充足しようとすることは甚だ困難であるからである。例えば純粋に病理組織学の立場からの分類と臨床家からのそれでは異るであろう。臨床でも外科療法と放射線療法の立場からでは多少の相違があろうし，現在の材料を対象としたものと，診断，治療技術の進歩するであろう将来の材料を対象としたものではやはり分類法が異つてくるであろう。そして分類法はその目的に合致したものであると共に，簡単に，わかりやすく，分類の実際にあたつて主観の入る余地の少いものでなければならない。われわれはここに手術療法特にen bloc operationを主とした臨床家が現在の材料を診断，治療法，予後の面から整理するにはどの分類法が最も適当であるかについて検討しようとするものである。

Okuda and associates attempted to add modification to Öhngren's classification in the en bloc operation for maxillary cancer which is both simple and rational in carrying out the procedure without the influence of subje-ctive thought of the examiner. The authors divided the maxillary cancer categorically into that of internal and external cancers ; and the latter were further subdivided into those types involving anteriorly, posteriorly and both anterior and posterior. The degree of bony destruction at the site of the growth was considered as the criterion by which the progress of the cancer was judged.
