The cause of Ménière's disease is investigated from the standpoint that it might be the edema occurring in the endolymph. Edema of the endolymph was established in rabbits ; objective tests in these animals were compared with clinical cases of Ménière's disease. It appeared reasonable to assume that increased endolymphatic pressure to be definitely one of the cause ; signs produced in experimental animals were much similar to human cases of the disease. Thickening of the Leisner's membrane did not always produce nystagmus.
