KAGITOMI reports a case of neurinoma which was undeterminable as to its origin whether facial or acoustic. The tumor was removed by trans-labyrinthine approach. The patient, a man aged 36, complained of facial paralysis with deafness of the right ear that lasted for past 61/2 years. Preoperative diagnosis of the condition was tenatively reached as to be either, acoustic neurinoma or cholesteatoma. At the time of operation a question arose whe-ther this growth were not of facial nerve origin. Accordingly this case was compared to other cases of neurinoma of the facial nerve reported in the literature which numbered 14 and 1 case of acoustic nerve tumor but, no definite conclusions could be drawn from these comparisons.
