An errorneously diagnosed case of a huge left unilateral acoustic neurinoma is presented, occurring in an 31 year-old woman. The reason why we could not diagnose such a huge acoustic neurinoma is not single. We found distinctly, in this case, difficulty of hearing and loss of vestibular function on the left side but, acci-dentally, she Lad had left otitis media and the difficulty of hearing was bilateral. And we could not think of an acoustic tumour because of the following several unusual findings. The third cranial nerve was markedly invaded on the right side, which must be extremely unusual in these tumours. And moreover, the signs of the Vth and the VIIth cranial nerves were absolutely negative. By jodoil-ventriculography we neglected to take a photograph sagittally and this failure too must have played a promi-nent role in this e rorneous diagnosis. And we suspected a tumour from somewhere about the sella turcica, because of amenorrhea, dilat tion of the sella and the right oculomotorius palsy. We explored in vain the right frontal lobe and the pat nt died of hyperthermia on th 29th postoperative day. We found out a huge neuri-noma at the left cerebellopontine recess finally at autopsy.
