SHIMA devises a method with which audiometry may now be conducted as an objective test. By using pure tone for conditional stimuli and galvanic current for norconditional one a conditional reflex is established on the subject of examination. Measurement of the amount of current used is made by galvanometer; The weakest tone capable of causing response is transposed into electrical energy and it is also measured. Twenty two deafmute and 15 normal children are examined under this method. Lowering of threshold of hearing is definitely shown in this method as compared to the ordinary way of testing. Its application for testing younger children appears to be especially suitable.
