Kokura says in reference to aesthetic nasal plastic surgery, the method employed heretofore calls for inserts which require expert technic of painstaking and scrupulous carving. These time-consuming and expert elements may be totally eliminated in the present method which deals with obtaining proper casts of plastic material from waxen Moulds. Initial step in the process is obtaining plaster of paris facial cast in order to construct the facial mask. The dorsal nasal contour is now corrected on this mask by use of softly moulten wax to the desired aesthefic effect and, which is then allowed to set by cooling. Replica in plastic material obtained from the waxen mould is the insert to be used in the corrective operation. Advantages of the new method over the old are as follows : (1) The insert fits more snuggly and equally over the surface of nasal bone ; (2) Technically easier to make and allows any number to be made as readily as making one and a greater choice of selecting the most suitable at the time of opera-tion; (3) More economical in material cost; (4) More scientific in application in which the ele-ment of specialized technic is eliminated; (5) Of what the facial contour was before the operation could be easily preserved in case of later need for reference.
