I．はじめに

　悪性腫瘍の治療には手術療法，各種の化学療法，放射線療法および免疫療法などが試みられているが，その治療成績は極めて悪いのが現状である．

　近年，癌に対する化学療法の進歩はめざましく，脳腫瘍に対しても，従来より全身投与法，動脈内投与法，髄腔内投与法，嚢胞内投与法などがある．しかし，血液脳関門の存在により，制癌剤の脳腫瘍組織内への移行が悪く，さらに制癌剤の腫瘍内貯留時問が短いなどのため，最近，投与法にいろいろと工夫がなされている^10,15）．にもかかわらず，副作用などを考慮すると，今までの投与法では充分な効果が得られていない．

The purpose of this study is to present the methodology and results of a clinical trial of local chemotherapy of malignant brain tumors based on slowly-releasing anticancer drug-polymer composites.

The slowly releasing drugs were prepared by combining and mutually dispersing anticancer agents with glassified monomers containing 10% polymeta-crylic methyl acid and then this compound was frozen at -78℃ and exposed to 1×10⁶ rad of gamma rays from cobalt 60. Thus we prepared a compound of polymers and anticancer agents. We used needle-shaped capsules of this compound. These capsules release the drug very slowly over 40 days.
