　P（教授）：昭和50年9月1日に診療を開始してから，ずいぶんいろんな症例を経験したようだが，印象としては疾病そのものが稀有なものというより，臨床経過に問題のあったものが多かったようだな．GPというのはどうして、神経症状を解析しないで診断をつけてしまうのか，視神経萎縮とか自家中毒とかの診断名で対症療法に終始している例が多い．それより困るのは，歴然とした神経徴候が存在するのに，通り一遍の検査を行って異常なしと診断する自称専門家のいることだ．これからの医学教育においては，すべからく……

　P：それを早くいい給え．で患者は？

The authors presented a patient with malignant glioma of the brain stem, infiltrating diffusely into the neuraxis from the pons.

The patient, a 5-year-old boy, had had left hemiparesis and speech disturbance which were progressive since Feb., 1977 and additional symptoms of headache, vomiting and lethargic mental state since Apr., 1977. Neurological examination on admission revealed that left hemiplegia. bilateral absent corneal reflexes, right abducent palsy, bilateral hyperactive deep tendon reflexes (dominant in the left than right), positive bilateral Wartenhurg and Babinski reflexes and lethalgic mental state.
