  • Look Inside

The primary function of oculomotor system is to help seeing by bringing retinal images on the fovea. This is accomplished by contribution of various parts of the central nervous system, of which the brain stem plays an important role. Eye movements are generated in the brain stem. The oculomotor system of the brain stem consists of superior colliculus, mesencephalic reticular formation, paramedian pontine reticular formation (PPRF), medial longitudinal fasciculus (MLF), oculomotor nucleus, trochlear nucleus, abducens nucleus, vestibular nucleus, prepositus hypoglossi nucleus and inferior olive.
