1.Normal urinary function can be defined as follows.

A. Storage phase

1) Certain amount of urine in the bladder causes desire for micturition. The cystometric bladder capacity of first sensation to void is 150~250ml.

2) Able to hold the urine for certain period after the first sensation.

3) Able to store a good amount of urine in the bladder. The maximum cystometric bladder capacity is 300~500 ml.

4) There is continuous contraction of the external urethral sphincter but no detrusor contraction during storage phase.

B. Evacuation phase

1 ) Able to urinate at any time even before first sensation to void.
