  • Look Inside

The morphological, physiological and biochemical studies of the inherited dystrophic chicken (No. 413) were briefly reviewed.

(1) Morphology

Light microscopically, the main alterations werean increase of sarcolemmal nuclei in number, notable variation in fiber size, numerous hypertrophic fibers, adipose tissue proliferation and necrotic fibers with marked phagocytosis.

Scattered throughout were basophilic fibers with vesicular nuclei. The most characteristic finding was the numerous vacuoles of varying sizes from the early stage of the disease.
