  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

It has been suggested that K-channel plays an important role in the cellular response for the various stimulations. According to the result of molecular cloning of the K-channels, the structure of two types of K-channels (Shaker A type and delayed rectifiring type) have been revealed. The re-lationships between the primary structure and its function of Shaker A channel was found to be clear by the site-directed mutagenesis method. Recently, it has been reported that K-channels could be modified by the exogeneously applied agonists, coupled with the second messenger systems, and by arachidonic acid (AA) or AA metabolites. Although molecular mechanisms of K-channel modulation by phosphorylation process via several kinds of kinases were rather apparent, but K-channel modula-tion by AA and /orAA metabolites was still unclear.
