　臨床画像学とは，対象とする疾患に特異的な機能構造を非侵襲的に捉える過程である。MR技術の著しい進歩は，神経学全般にわたって，全く新しい分野を開拓しつつある。聴覚神経学における貢献度も著しく，聴覚路の微細構造解析から高次機能の局在解析まで，幅広い情報の提供が可能となっている。オーダーひとつで，ルーチン化した画像を獲得する時代は過ぎ去り，臨床医一人ひとりに適切な画像学の知識が要求される時代でもある。

　Recent advancements in magnetic resonance technology have revolutionized not only structural but also functional imaging. It is now possible to perform detailed analysis of all aspects of brain function non-invasively. Auditory system is not an exception. Advanced technology offers variety of clinically relevant information from the labyrinth to the cortex. Main techniques include functional MRI（fMRI）based on T2^* contrast and 3DAC axonography based on diffusion tensor analysis（DTA）.
