  • Look Inside

From 1991 to 1996, we have engaged in the treatment of 41 bladder calculi patients using cystolithotomy (5 patients), mechanical cystolithotripsy (26 patients) and extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (10 patients). In the cystolithotomy and mechanical cystolithotripsy group, severe complications such as hematuria, fever (more than 38℃) and bladder mucosal injury were noted. In the ESWL group, only one patient needed anesthesia during the treatment. Complete fragmentation was achieved after a single session in 5 patients while 2 required 2 sessions. 3 patients underwent initial ESWL followed by mechanical cystolithotripsy.
