　抗生剤などによる治療が無効であった慢性非細菌性前立腺炎の患者91例に漢方薬の6種類の基本処方に加え，症例毎に前立腺炎の諸症状に応じて数種類の生薬を適宜追加し，2〜3週間投与した。効果は自覚症状の改善，前立腺触診上の所見，および前立腺圧出液中の白血球数から判定し有効率は82％で，再発率は8％であった。漢方薬は歴史的な経験に裏付けられ，患者の「証」と呼ばれる具体的な情報に応じて処方薬の内容を加減する総合的な治療方法であり，副作用も少なく，通常薬無効の慢性前立腺炎にはきわめて有効である。

We here report 91 cases of chronic prostatitis treated by kampo medicine. In spite of variety of treatments for chronic prostatitis performed in the world, their effects are imperfect. The history of kampo medicine is long and good clinical effects are approved especially in chronic disease. We choosed 15 numbers of kampo medicines recommended by Chinese specialized doctors. The pre-scriptions are various according to the symptoms of each patient. The effective rate of the treatment is more than 80% and no side effect was seen. We can treat patients with chronic nonbacterial prostatitis successfully by kampo medicine.
