  • Abstract

A 41-year-old male was seen complaining of a papule 5 mm in diameter at the left scrotum after climbing Mount Norikura. From the base of the papule, four pairs of black hair-like processes protruded and swayed on touch. The papule was considered to be the body of a tick. A few drops of olive oil with the intention to obstruct the tick's breath and remove it was not effective. The tick with surround-ing skin was removed surgically. The tick was identified as the female tick, Ixodes persulcatus Schulze.

The patient has been well without sequelae.

Literatures were reviewed briefly.
