  • Look Inside

Dissolution of urinary calculi by irrigation with EDTA (Ethylene diamin tetra acetic acid) solution was performed in 20 cases. 15 cases were renal calculi and 5 cases were bladder calculi. The renal irrigation was carried out through Fr. 8 double channeled catheter or 2 catheters; one as inlet, the other as out let; introduced into the renal pelvis by means of a Cystoscope.

The bladder irrigation was done through Fr. 24 Foley continuous irrigation catheter.

The results were as follows: 5 of the renal calculi and 4 of the bladder calculi were completely dissolved, and 3 of the renal calculi were partially dissolved.
