緒言

　最近，われわれは糖尿病患者において腎乳頭壊死を伴つたXanthogranulomatous pyelonephritisを経験した。腎乳頭壊死およびXanthogranulo-matous pyelonephritisはそれぞれ稀な疾患であり，両者が共存した症例はわれわれの知る限りでは未だ報告をみない。そこでわれわれは本症例の臨床経過を報告するとともにその発生機序について若干の検討を加えた。

A case of renal papillary necrosis associated with xanthogranulomatous pyelonephritis and diabetes mellitus was herein reported.

A 44-year-old male patient visited our clinic on September 22, 1973, complaining left flank pain, hematuria and high fever. Clinical examinations revealed absence of stone on the plain film, left non-visualizing kidney by intravenous pyelography and deformities of collecting system with extravasation of contrast medium to renal papillaes by retrograde pyelography.
