We studied the effects of radiotherapy on peripheral blood lymphocytes, helper T cells (Th),suppressor T cells (Ts), cytotoxic T cells (Tc) and natural killer cell activity (NK) in 22 pa-tients with laryngeal cancer.

NK increased with doses up to 2,000 cGy but reduced in those receiving more than 2,000 cGy. Lymphocytes, Th, and Tc decreased inversely with the radiation doses. Ts appeared to be unchanged at doses up to 2,000 cGy and to be decreased in those receiving more than 3,000 cGy.

The effects of radiation on the cellular immu-nity in patients with laryngeal cancer were con-sidered to change at a dose of 2,000 cGy.
