Facial nerve decompression surgery is performed for the cases of severe peripheral facial nerve palsy. There is a possibility that postoperative hearing level become lower than preoperative hearing level. We evaluated preoperative and postoperative hearing level of 11 patients who underwent facial nerve decompression surgery.

Average preoperative air conduction hearing level of 11 patients was 31.6 dB and postoperative hearing level was 39.2 dB. Threshold elevation was observed in all frequency except for 1000 Hz significantly. On the other hand, average preoperative bone conduction hearing level was 20.3 dB and postoperative hearing level was 24.6 dB. Threshold elevation was observed in only 4000 Hz significantly.
