脈絡膜骨腫の視力経過

Visual outcome of choroidal osteoma

　最近10年間に脈絡膜骨腫6例8眼を経験し，その眼底所見と視力の経過を調べた。脈絡膜骨腫は徐々に拡大した。骨腫が黄斑部中心窩の下に拡大しても視力低下をみなかった。しかし，脈絡膜骨腫の50％に脈絡膜新生血管が発生し，黄斑部中心窩に脈絡膜新生血管が発生すると急激に視力低下を来し視力不良になった。脈絡膜骨腫のみの浸潤では視力は良好であったが，脈絡膜新生血管が発生すると視力が低下することがわかった。

We reviewed the clinical course in 8 eyes of 6 patients of choroidal osteoma seen during the foregoing 10 years. The osteoma showed gradual enlargement. No visual impairment had set in even after the osteoma extended to the subfoveal region. Choroidal neovascularization (CNV) developed in 4 eyes, 50%, during the course of observation. Acute and irreversible visual impairment was the rule when CNV developed in the foveal area. The findings show that choroidal osteoma alone does not affect the visual acuity and that subfoveal CNV leads to visual impairment.
