We performed gonioscopy and gonioangiography in 21 eyes using a scanning laser ophthalmoscope (SLO, Rodenstock). The cases comprised 4 normal eyes, 15 rubeotic eyes and 2 eyes with carotid cavernoussinus fistula. For angiography, we used 1 to 2 ml of 2% indocyanine green and, 5 minutes later, 5 ml of 10% fluorescein. The angiographic sequence was recorded at the rate of 30 frames per second on a videotape.

Striking differences were seen between ICG and fluorescein angiographic findings regarding the rubeotic vessels on the trabecular meshwork. While they usually allowed leakage of fluorescein, ICG did not extravasate, allowing observation of the whole circumference of the angle for several min-utes. ICG angiography allowed identification of the site of collector vessels emerging from the Schlemm's canal. Further, gonioangiography result-ed in detection of clinically silent rubeosis in the chamber angle in 4 eyes with proliferative diabetic retinopathy. Gonioscopy and gonioangiography with SLO thus seemed of value in various clinical situations.
