  • Look Inside

We performed fluorescein angiography in 156 eyes using a scanning laser ophthalmoscope (SLO) at the rate of 30 frames per second. In 2 eyes with branch retinal vein occlusion, we could observe the pulsatile nature of blood inflow through venove-nous collateral channels. It was possible to docume-nt cystoid macular edema 60 minutes after dye injection in 133 eyes with diabetic retinopathy orbranch retinal vein occlusion. Parafoveal microcy-stoid edema could also be documented in the after phase in 6 eyes. The perifoveal capillaries were recorded in detail in 61 eyes. In all the 61 eyes, we observed numerous fluorescent dots flowing through the capillaries. The dots were much more numerous in a patient with leukemia. We presumed that the fluorescent dots originated from platelets and leukocytes in the circulating blood.
