  • Look Inside

We reviewed 5 eyes of 5 cases of conjunctival tumor that were eventually diagnosed with Bowen disease during the past 8 years. The series comprised 2 males and 3 females. Their ages ranged from 47 to 89 years, average 73 years. The initial symptoms comprised conjuntival hyperemia 3 eyes and foreign body sensation 2 eyes. The con-junctiva nasal to the cornea was the predilected site of occurrence. Histopathology showed carcinoma in situ in all the eyes. All the 5 eyes were treated by extirpation of the tumor. Additional lamellar keratoplasty was performed in 2 eyes and repair of the wound by conjunctiva in 1 eye. The tumor recurred 3 months after simple extirpation in a 34-year-old female, requiring another surgery. All the 5 cases were doing well during the follow-up for 3 to 24 months, average 14.8 months.
