  • Look Inside

We reviewed 88 glaucoma eyes of 72 patients following cataract surgery with intraocular lens (IOL) implantation during the past 8 years. Their ages averaged 69.5 ± 13.8 years. All the cases were followed up for one year or longer. Neither the method of cataract surgery, type of IOL, nor the state of IOL fixation was related with the visual acuity, intraocular pressure (IOP), or temporary IOP rise after surgery. There was no difference in the course of visual acuity, IOP or visual field between 5 eyes which developed capsular rupture and 83 eyes which did not. The incidence of temporary postoperative KW rise was 3 eyes (60%) with capsular rupture and 10 eyes (12%) without. The difference was significant (p = 0.003) . It appeared that this difference was due to inflammation and residual viscoelastic material in eyes with capsular rupture.
