  • Look Inside

We measured the curvature of anterior and posterior corneal surface in 22 eyes following small-incision self-healing cataract surgery. Corneal topography (Orbscan) was used in the measurement. Surgically induced astigmatism was calculated by Holladay's method using the mean simulated keratometry (SimK) and the posterior axial power maps. After surgery, both the anterior and posterior corneal curvatures became flatter. No significant difference was present in the amount of flattening among 1 week, 1 month and 3 months after surgery. This finding shows that refractive changes after small-incision cataract surgery reach a stabilized state during early postoperative days.
