  • Look Inside

A 48-year-old female received uneventful laser in situ keratomileusis (LASIK) for myopia in both eyes. Her corrected visual acuity was 1.5 in either eye. Her left eye was accidentally hit by the forepaw of her dog 19 days after surgery. When seen the same day, the corneal flap in her left eye was slightly dislocated superiorly. The corrected visual acuity was 1.0 and improved to 1.2 the following day associated with spontaneous repositioning of the corneal flap. She is doing well without wrinkling or epithelial ingrowth 6 months afer the accident. This case illustrates that dislocation of corneal flap may happen following blunt trauma even when the corneal epithelial cells are supposed to have regenerated 19 days after LASIK.
