  • Look Inside

We reviewed 136 eyes which underwent implantation of acrylic intraocular lens regarding postoperative glistening of the lens. The follow-up period ranged from 7 to 30 months, average 16 months. By slit-lamp microscopy, glistening particles were observed in 119 eyes, 87.5%. The incidence of glistening was independent of the surgical method. The particles were nore numerous in young or diabetic patients. The presence of glistening particles did not significantly affect the visual acuity. Glare, or contrast sensitivity, was affected in 1 out of 5 examined eyes with glistening particles.
