Abstract. Purpose:To report the outcome of cataract surgery using preloaded injector for foldable intraocular lens(IOL). Cases and Method:A total of 79 eyes of 66 cases received cataract surgery using preloaded injector,KS-X. The age ranged from 58 to 93 years, average 76 years. They were evaluated for refraction, visual acuity and slit-lamp microscopic findings one month after surgery. A total of 136 institutions were asked by questionnaire regarding outcome of cataract surgery using KS-X or its equivalent,NX-1. Various types of foldable IOL were evaluated as to adherence and injury by forceps of the surface as well as course of recovery after release from the injector. Results:Out of 79 eyes in the present series,63 eyes resulted in corrected visual acuity of 0.5 or better. A total of 4,123 eyes reported to the questionnaire, there was no instance bacterial endophthalmitis after surgery. KS-X showed lower adherence than other IOLs. Recovery of shape was smooth independent of temperature. Conclusion:Cataract surgery using preloaded injector KS-X or NX-1 resulted in fair outcome.
