We treated 13 eyes of luxated crystalline lens and 12 eyes of luxated intraocular lens using removal or repositioning of the lens with adjunctive vitrectomy. The cause of lens lineation was Marfan syndrome 8 eyes, trauma 1 eye, fall of lens nucleus during cataract surgery 1 eye and idiopathic 3 eyes. The cases were followed up for 3 to 53 months, average 27 months. Twenty-one eyes were followed up for 6 months or more. The visual acuity improved or was maintained in all the eyes after surgery. The visual acuity remained stable in 22 of 25 eyes throughout the period of observation. Final visual acuity of 0.4 or more was attained in 21 eyes, 84%. Complications included transient elevation of intraocular pressure, persistence of liquid fluorocarbon and retinal redetachment. These complications could be managed by additional treatments.
