A 71-year-old female presented with sudden and progressive severe subconjunctival hemorrhage in her right eye. She had been under treatment with nonsteroid antiinflammatory agents for ostitis defor-mans 14 months before. After eye compression proved futile, coagulation of conjunctival vessels arrested the hemorrhage. Hematological studies showed prolonged clotting time, low factor Ⅷ activity, normal antigen-like factor Ⅷ and elevated factor Ⅷ inhibitor. Combined systemic therapy with immunosuppressive agents and corticosteroid induced decrease in factor Ⅷ and cure of hemorrhagic tendency. Drug-induced allergy appeared to be causatively involved in this unusual case of severe subconjunctival hemorrhage.
