  • Look Inside

We reviewed the clinical course of corneal opacity in 34 eyes of 24 cases with Peters' anomaly. The series comprised 15 males and 9 females. Both eyes were involved in 10 cases. Corneolenticular adhesion was present in 9 eyes. Associated ocular anomalies included microphthalmos, microcornea, glaucoma, sclerocornea, iris strands and iris coloboma. Corneal opacity underwent spontaneous decrease in 14 of 34 eyes. All these eyes were free of corneolenticular adhesion. Corneal opacity increased in 4 eyes which were associated with glaucoma, and 3 of them showed corneolenticular adhesion. Corneal opacity did not decrease in eyes with corneolenticular adhesion. It did not increase in eyes without glaucoma. Presence of glaucoma or corneolenticular adhesion thus seemed to be poor prognostic signs in eyes with Peters' anomaly.
