  • Look Inside

We observed and reported a 40-year-old male who manifested keratitis sicca, persistent corneal erosion and Stevens-Johnson syndrome 2 years ago. Infection by Epstein-Barr virus was suspected as the VCA-IgG titer was 2,560× . polymerase chain reaction to the virus was negative in blood, tear andsaliva samples. At 14 months after his initial visit, the polymerase chain reaction was positive in his samples. The IgE binding factor in his blood serum was within normal range. The findings suggest that Epstein-Barr virus may be involved in some inflam-matory ocular diseases including Stevens-Johnson syndrome.
