Abstract Purpose:To report changes in macular circulation in eyes with branch retinal vein occlusion(BRVO).

Cases and Method:This retrospective study was made on 26 eyes of 26 cases with BRVO. The age averaged 63.7±11.2 years. BRVO had been estimatedly present for 1 to 12 months, average 3.2 months. Circulation was measured in 3 mm in diameter in the foveal area, using fluorescein angiography and laser speckle flowgraphy with mean blur rate(MBR)as the parameter.

Results:The size of nonperfused area averaged 0.57±0.46 of the disc area. Ratio of MBR of the vasooccluded area versus that normal perfusion area averaged 82.6±10.2%. There was a significant correlation between the MBR and nonperfused area(r=−0.46, p=0.019).

Conclusion:Laser speckle flowgraphy promises to be of value in the evaluation of macular ischemia in BRVO.
