Abstract Purpose:To report the current status of eyedrops for glaucoma.

Cases and Method:This survey was made on the modality of topical treatment for normal-tension glaucoma(NTG)and primary open-angle glaucoma(POAG)during one week in March 2016 in 57 institutions. Report was obtained on 4,288 patients comprising 1,839 males and 2,449 females. The age ranged from 7 to 102 years, average 68 years. Findings were compared with similar studies made in 2012.

Results:POAG patients were receiving an average of 2.1±1.3 eyedrops. NTG patients were receiving 1.5±1.0 eyedrops. The difference was significant(p<0.0001). Among medications used as monotherapy for NTG, prostaglandin was the most frequent(74.0%). For POAG, prostaglandin was the most frequently used(80.2%). When two medications were used, prostaglandin combined with beta-blockers was the most frequent.

Conclusion:Prostaglandin was the most frequently used as a whole either as monotherapy or combination of multiple medications. There were no difference in medication between NTG and POAG.
