Abstract. Purpose:To report the correlation between velocity of retinal venous flow and macular edema in branch retinal vein occlusion. Cases and Method:This study was made on 2 eyes of 2 females who presented with branch retinal vein occlusion of less than 3 months' duration. They were aged 64 and 70 years respectively. Laser speckle flowgraphy was repeatedly used to measure the hemodynamics proximal and distal to the arteriovenous crossing. Results:Foveal thickness was negatively correlated with the difference in velocity of venous blood flow between proximal and distal site of arteriovenous crossing. Foveal thickness was positively correlated with blood wave skew in the retinal artery. Conclusion:Macular edema may exacerbate by disproportion of hemodynamics between proximal and distal site of arteriovenous crossing. There is a possibility to predict macular edema in branch retinal vein occlusion by measuring the hemodynamics by laser speckle flowgraphy.
