目的：網膜静脈分枝閉塞症の長期経過の検討。対象：網膜静脈分枝閉塞症の自験例97例107眼を対象とした。男性42例，女性55例で，年齢は41～75歳（平均59歳）であった。5～19年（平均9.5年）の経過を観察した。結果：12例（12％）で網膜静脈分枝閉塞症が両眼に発症した。片眼発症から他眼発症までの間隔は平均6.7年であった。硝子体出血は26眼（24％）に起こった。11眼は硝子体出血で受診し，15眼では光凝固後の経過観察中に硝子体出血が発症した。網膜静脈分枝閉塞症の発症から硝子体出血までの期間は平均5.9年であった。視力は43眼（40％）で改善し，50眼（47％）で不変，14眼（13％）で悪化した。最終視力は，63眼（59％）が1.0以上，22眼（21％）が0.5～0.9，12眼（11％）が0.2～0.4，10眼（9％）が0.1以下であった。結論：網膜静脈分枝閉塞症の発症から平均9.5年間の長期経過は比較的良好である。

Purpose：To report the long-term outcome of branch retinal vein occlusion（BRVO）. Cases：This retrospective study involved 107 eyes of 97 cases of BRVO. The series comprised 42 males and 55 females. Their age ranged from 41 to 75 years, average 59 years. They were followed up for 5 to 19 years, average 9.5 years. Results：BRVO involved both eyes in 12 cases（12％）. The interval between BRVO in one eye to occurrence in the fellow eye averaged 6.7 years. Vitreous hemorrhage occurred in 26 eyes（24％）. Vitreous hemorrhage was the initial and chief complaint in 11 eyes. It developed after treatment by laser photocoagulation in 15 eyes. The interval between onset of BRVO to vitreous hemorrhage averaged 5.9 years. Visual acuity improved in 43 eyes（40％）, was unchanged in 50 eyes（47％）, and deteriorated in 14 eyes（13％）. Final visual acuity was 1.0 or over in 63 eyes（59％）, between 0.5 and 0.9 in 22 eyes（21％）, between 0.2 and 0.4 in 12 eyes（11％）, and 0.1 or less in 10 eyes（9％）. Conclusion：Outcome of BRVO is fair for an average of 9.5 years after onset.
